What is managed BigBlueButton hosting?
BigBlueButton is an open source video conferencing platform built specifically for online teaching and collaboration – with a shared whiteboard, screen sharing, breakout rooms, polls and recording. Running it takes server know-how, scaling and continuous updates. With managed hosting we take care of exactly that: you get a finished, maintained and secured BigBlueButton instance and simply use the interface.

Video conferences handle sensitive data: video, audio and often personal content from the classroom. We run BigBlueButton exclusively in a German, ISO 27001 certified data center, provide the data processing agreement and encrypt the transport.
For schools and public bodies a German server location is usually a requirement. The points your data protection officer will want to review are collected on BigBlueButton and GDPR.

Do participants need an account? No. They join through a link in the browser, with no installation and no registration.
How many people can take part? That depends on the server size; with Scalelite we spread many parallel conferences across several servers. We will work out with you which plan size fits your typical number of participants.
Can sessions be recorded? Yes, if you enable it. Recordings stay on your server, and you decide how long they are kept and when they are deleted.
