Moodle for clubs, trainers and coaches – your own course platform without an IT department
You train instructors, run referee courses or guide coaching participants over several weeks. With your own Moodle platform, content, dates, assignments and proof of completion sit in one place: structured, access-controlled and GDPR-compliant, hosted in Germany. Servers, updates and backups are our job.
Why a learning platform rather than a video platform or a shared cloud folder?
Because video platforms and shared folders store content but do not represent a learning path. They cannot tell you who worked through a module, they cannot collect assignments, and they cannot confirm participation.
A learning platform closes exactly those gaps:
- Structure instead of a file list – modules in sequence, with prerequisites and clear sections.
- Visible progress – you see where each person stands without having to ask.
- Assignments and quizzes – submit, grade and give feedback inside the course.
- Attendance confirmations and certificates – issued automatically on completion.
- Access control – only enrolled members see the content.
- Data ownership – your member data sits on servers in Germany, not on an ad-funded platform. Data protection →

Typical scenarios
- Instructor training – cover theory online and use in-person dates for practice. Quizzes confirm the level of knowledge, and records of completion are created automatically.
- Referee courses – roll out rule changes as short modules, repeat the rules test each year, document the results.
- Club administration – inductions for new members, facility rules, data protection and safety briefings, material for board and department work.
- Coaching programs – multi-week programs with weekly modules, reflection tasks, feedback and accompanying live sessions.
Live sessions can be embedded in the course as video conferences: BigBlueButton and Moodle →. If you need sessions without Moodle, rent BBB on its own: rent BigBlueButton →
Your advantages with eledia.cloud
You get a finished platform, not a DIY project. Moodle is installed and current, operations run on servers in Germany in an ISO 27001 certified data center, and a data processing agreement is included.
Because Moodle is open source, there are no license fees and no per-person costs – for clubs with many members and a small budget, that is the decisive difference. We handle updates, backups and monitoring, and support comes from a Moodle Premium Partner. Unlike MoodleCloud, which stops at 750 users and does not allow your own plugins, extensions are possible here. MoodleCloud alternative →
If you also need files, calendars and shared club storage, Nextcloud complements the platform well. Nextcloud hosting →
Selling courses
If you offer paid training or coaching programs, the sale can run inside Moodle itself – from enrollment through payment to access. How that works and what you need for it is covered on selling online courses with Moodle →
What does it cost?
Pricing follows user numbers and storage, not feature tiers. There are no license fees, because Moodle is open source. Current plans and prices are listed on our pricing page.. Current packages: pricing →. For an overview of total cost, see What does Moodle cost? →
Frequently asked questions from clubs, trainers and coaches
Do we need someone with IT skills in the club? No. Creating courses and enrolling members happens through the web interface. Server operations, updates and backups are on us.
How many members can we add? That depends on the package you book and can be increased later. There is no fixed ceiling like the one in MoodleCloud.
Can several departments work separately? Yes. Course categories and roles give each department its own area without you needing several platforms.
Can we issue attendance confirmations? Yes. Moodle generates certificates and confirmations automatically on course completion.
Does it work on a smartphone? Yes. Moodle works in the mobile browser, and there is also the free Moodle app.
Are we allowed to store member data there? Server location Germany, an ISO 27001 certified data center and a data processing agreement provide the basis. As with any system, you assess the specific processing in your club yourself.
Can we offer paid courses? Yes, through payment plugins and enrollment methods. More on this →
